Souls and songs
Lay entwined in leaves
A garden so bountiful
Grew within me,
Red tulips fell from my lips
As I declared my acceptance
With a kiss.
You were made of flowers
A potpourri of sentiments so rich,
Dripping with carnations,
A vibrant red.
An oasis of devotion
An ache deep seated,
My heart craved and wanted.
You covered me in pink,
Drowned me in daisies,
I lost sight of my doubts,
My arguments and my sanity
All my reservation
Crumbled underneath
The onslaught.
Your heart bled red
Vibrant beneath the whites of your bone
Like the very color of the roses
That wrapped around your rib cage,
Unfettered, wild,
Tainted with passion, and overgrown.
Fuchsias and geraniums
All bundled up as one,
My heart spiraled
As you gifted me a bouquet
Of follies and denials
With a smile that shone
Brighter than the sun.
Victorian blue painted your chest
As I sent love letters wrapped in Iris
Pages upon pages
Dusted in daffodils
An ode to our unrequited love
A passion unequalled.
You covered me in daisies
Said I love you truly
Painted me with wild roses,
Pain mixed with pleasure,
The poetry of our love story.
We stood underneath
Showers of lilies
Our love scented of purity,
A lone bud blooming
In an ocean of doubt,
I wove you a crown of heliotropes
A token of eternity,
A prayer of the devout.
Forget-me-nots paved the yard
As we stumbled through the doors at dawn,
Beams of sunlight wrapped around us coyly
Setting our spirits aglow in the effervescent dark.
Capricious and drunk our fingers danced across one another,
Dainty and delicate,
A flesh and bone tether.
Desire bloomed just as the blossoms did,
You surpassed all,
As I lay imprisoned in poppies,
A sea of red,
Yet somehow,
I didn’t want to be set free at all.
